Full EV Charger Installation Assessment

What matters most happens before I touch a single cable. I visit your home, or business, and assess your electrical supply to see if it can absorb the extra power – DB, Main Breaker Capacity, MCBs, Existing Loads – and proposed Charger Location.

What’s the minimum qualification for an EV Charger Installer?

At minimum, registration with the Dep of Labour (DOL) as an installation electrician (3-phase). Preferably someone who has a thorough understanding of EV charger installs and has done this before.

How much does it cost to install an EV charger wall box?

If you exclude the physical wall box, the installation mainly comprises of 3 parts – (1) the cable from the DB to the charger (2) Protection MCB (usually 40 amp) and a type A ELU (3) Installing and connecting the charger wall box. The cable normally takes 60% – 70% of the time. The job can easily take a full day. You can estimate R7,500 less the charger box (that’s the lower-end average if no load management intevention is required). You can send us a photo of your electrical boards and proposed charger box location for a ball-park estimate, subject to a physical on-site assessment for a firm quote (at no charge).
