How EV Charger Installation Works in Cape Town
EVCI.tech · How EV Charger Installation Works in Cape Town
Simple process.
No surprises.
From first visit to final sign-off — here’s exactly what to expect when you book with Frankie.
The process
Four steps. Start to finish.
Most installations are complete in a single day. But the work that matters most happens before I touch a single cable.
Step one · Free
Power Availability Assessment
I visit your home or business and assess your electrical supply from the ground up — your DB board, main breaker capacity, existing load, and the best position for your charger. This is the step most installers skip. I don’t.
Step two · No obligation
Written Proposal
You receive a clear, itemised written proposal — what needs to be done, what it will cost, and which charger I recommend for your specific setup. No verbal estimates. No surprises on invoice day.
Step three · Installation day
Installation
I arrive, I do the work, I clean up. You get a dedicated circuit, correctly rated cabling, an isolator switch, earth leakage protection, and your charger mounted and configured — including smart scheduling if your unit supports it.
Step four · Legal sign-off
Certificate of Compliance
Every EVCI.tech installation closes with a Certificate of Compliance issued in your name. This is a legal requirement under South African electrical regulations — and a requirement of your home insurer. It’s included in every job, not charged as an extra.
Good to know
A few things people always ask.
How long does it take?
Most home installations are completed in half a day. Larger jobs or DB upgrades may run a full day. You’ll know in advance from the proposal.
Do I need to be home?
Yes, for the assessment and for installation day. I’ll agree a time that works for you — no all-day waiting windows.
Do you supply the charger?
I can arrange supply, or you can purchase based on my written recommendation. Either way, the advice is brand-independent — I recommend what suits your setup, not what’s in stock.
What if my board needs upgrading?
It’ll be in the proposal with a clear cost before any work begins. No surprises. You decide whether to proceed.
Start with step one — it’s free.
